|Services for Distance Learners|
The Library provides a range of resources and services to support students who are studying off-campus. All students are encouraged to use the full range of our campus-based services, but we appreciate that for some students living at a distance from Newman, this may not always be a simple option. Don't forget that eBooks, eJournal articles, and TV and radio progarmmes are available off-campus through our range of electronic resources.
Students on most Foundation degree programmes will be automatically registered to benefit from extended loan periods:
- Standard loan - 4 weeks
- Week loan - 14 days
- Journal articles can be requested. These are photocopied and sent to you at the cost of £1.00 per request. The article then becomes your property
Items may be returned in person or by Recorded delivery post. Please note that normal fines apply for the late return of borrowed items.
You can renew items that you have borrowed up to 50 times. You will not be able to renew items if:
- Another borrower has requested an item out on loan to you
- If your total cumulated fines has reached £10.00 - you will be temporarily blocked from borrowing and renewing library items, until you reduce the amount of fines on your account
You may request Inter-Library Loans in accordance with normal allowances. Requests will be accepted by post as well as in person. For details of this service please click here.
Journal articles are delivered electronically to your Newman email address. You must first install a special software plug-in for this to work, to find out more, please click here.
Borrowing from other libraries
As a distance learner or part-time student you may be eligible to borrow from other local and national Higher Education institutions. Please click here for details.
You may also find it helpful to use our postal loans service, which is available for a small fee.
