Library workshops

Shut up and Work

Our Shut up & Work sessions aim to give you chance to focus on writing your text or reading that article, through a series of ‘drills’. The idea is simple - write or read for one hour , then break for 10 minutes. Come along and try it out - and watch your word count grow!

You manage your day, set your target for the day and work until you achieve your target. Each session starts at 12:30 and finishes at 16:30 and has coffee breaks to allow you to recharge and network with other students without feeling guilty.

Sessions are taking place on the following dates in room CH207:

Wednesday 14 March
Wednesday 18 April
Wednesday 2 May

You should come to the workshop with a piece of writing that you are currently working on (e.g. on a memory stick) and ideally a laptop, although you can borrow one from the library if you need to. Please be aware that the purpose of the session is to give you the time and space to work on your text, rather than giving advice on content or style.

Please note: If you would like to attend one of these sessions, please email Hanan Fara
